Darby Allin has put himself on the map as a rising star in AEW ever since his star-making performance against Cody Rhodes, and he could reach even greater heights against Chris Jericho.
AEW fans came into the Oct. 9 episode of “Dynamite” excited for the AEW World Championship No. 1 Contender match between Darby Allin and Jimmy Havoc, knowing they’d be in for a brutal fight between a rising young star and a veteran of the squared circle.
As many fans hoped, Allin pulled off the victory, becoming the second (well, third) young star of the night to pick up a marquee win, as Private Party upset the Young Bucks in the first round of the tag team tournaments to kick off the show.
Allin will get to face Chris Jericho, AEW’s biggest name and the promotion’s first world champion, next week. That will surely be another star-making match for Allin, who already made himself a fan favorite with his character work against Cody Rhodes this summer.
AEW fans are beyond hyped for Jericho vs. Allin and were full of praise for Allin, whose pain-seeking character is one of wrestling’s most compelling today.
He’s already drawn with Cody, beaten Havoc, won over CIMA on AEW Dark, and now has this match with Jericho. His stock is soaring.

Our friends at “Smark to Death” nailed it. This is going to be huge for Allin, even if just about everyone expects Jericho to retain. Then again, everyone thought Private Party stood no chance against big names like the Bucks, too…
Darby Allin’s theme is the ultimate “I’m from Seattle” wrestling theme. #AEWDynamite #AEWonTNT

I’d also like to plug this tweet by them. Because grunge.
I love Darby Allin *and* his Marilyn Manson knockoff music. For real. #AEWDynamite

FanSided.com editor Andrea Hangst also has great taste in music (and wrestlers).
Darby Allin is probably my favorite guy AEW has introduced so far #AEWDynamite

Same with my colleague Phil Lindsey. Looks like Allin has made plenty of fans lately.
AEW said that they would be all about making new stars, and, thus far in their second episode, it seems like they are true to their word. All eyes on Allin vs. Jericho and the rest of the tag team tournament!
LET'S FFFF'N GO!!!! @DarbyAllin 🔥🔥🔥#WrestlingCommunity#AEW

My friend Jesse is a ray of light in wrestling, and he was PUMPED.
One hour into #AEWDynamite and Private Party and Darby Allin picked up major wins. I hope people know who these 3 are now. #AEWDynamite

We know now, Kyle. We know now.
When Darby Allin’s theme song said “I hate creeps and I hate liars”, I felt that.

Hates creeps? Probably not a Radiohead fan. But hates liars? Probably a Daniel Bryan fan.
