WWE fans react to Lio Rush winning his first title
Lio Rush won his first title in WWE, capturing the NXT Cruiserweight Championship by defeating the dominant Drew Gulak.
On the Sept. 18 episode of WWE NXT, Lio Rush made a shocking return to the ring after it seemed like the company would quietly avoid placing one of their most talented Superstars on television due to a series of backstage misunderstandings.
Rush, who has done a brilliant job of advocating for himself in an industry that undervalues Black wrestlers and undersized wrestlers, found another way to grab headlines with his talent. His return match with Oney Lorcan received widespread praise on social media, as fans were invested in his announced Cruiserweight Title match against Drew Gulak.
And he didn’t let the big moment slip. On the Oct. 9 episode of NXT, Rush defeated dominant Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak to become the new face of the Cruiserweight division, which is now an integral part of NXT in the ratings battle against AEW.
WWE fans were thrilled at Rush’s victory, and they are ready for “The Man of the Hour”, as he was known on 205 Live, to lead this division to new heights.

A smart decision indeed. Rush is one of the most talented wrestlers in WWE when looking at his mic work (he was SUCH a good manager for Bobby Lashley), quickness inside the ring, creativity, and selling. He’s the total package, and it’s damn time he became a champion.
