WWE fans are excited for Nikki Cross’ title opportunity on SmackDown

Nikki Cross won a Six-Pack Challenge on WWE SmackDown to become the No. 1 contender to Bayley’s title, and wrestling fans are excited for what should be an excellent match.

There is no doubt that Nikki Cross has been one of the biggest breakout stars in WWE this year. While she was always an above-average wrestler and a great character in NXT, she has shown more layers to her game on the main roster. Even before teaming up with Alexa Bliss and getting into the real limelight, Cross received major pops early in 2019, including at the Royal Rumble.

Clearly, Cross has always been respected by WWE fans, but the pairing with Bliss has allowed her to pursue singles title opportunities, win the tag titles, and showcase her versatility as a character.

And now, she has another title opportunity. Cross defeated Carmella, Lacey Evans, Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, and Dana Brooke to become the No. 1 contender to Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Championship.

While all of those women are talented and someone like Carmella could have made an intriguing opponent for Bayley’s first challenger as a heel, wrestling fans are fully behind Cross. And judging by the impact she’s made on the main roster this year, why wouldn’t they? Fans know this was a well-earned win, and it’s another opportunity for Cross to shine.

I’m not sure anyone can beat #HeelBayley, but, yes, Cross has a shot!

This is Cross’ first REAL singles title opportunity on the main roster, and it has certainly been coming.

I doubt it, but I’m not surprised people are already questioning Alexa Bliss’ motives. After all, she is one of the best strategists in WWE and knows how to come up on top. Just ask Bayley what Bliss is capable of.

Cross and Bliss joined SmackDown in a “blockbuster” trade earlier this week, and SmackDown are clearly trying to make the most of the uber-talented duo. It’s great to see Cross getting the first crack at Bayley after she and Bliss were involved in a cathartic redemption angle for babyface Bayley this summer, but how will this version of the story end?

Odds are, with Bayley maintaining control over the SmackDown Women’s Title that she continues to elevate. However, Nikki Cross truly can’t be counted out.
