Tim Storm promo

Galli then interviewed Tim Storm. He asked Storm how he felt about the loss to Aldis and not being able to challenge for the NWA Worlds Title again. He put over Aldis and talked about how his life changed after the “Ten Pounds of Gold” series, mentioning how the perception of him and the promotion changed as those videos gained momentum.

As he started to address his wrestling future, Eli Drake came out. Drake reminded Storm that one loss doesn’t wash away Storm’s accomplishments and told him that “the ride ain’t over” before offering to form a tag team and accept The Dawsons’ open challenge. Storm said he would think about it.

My thoughts: Storm is a really good elder statesman babyface. His retirement tease was good, as it was vague enough to make you think it was the end without it being a cheap Russo-style fake retirement swerve. Drake, as usual, showed great fire in trying to talk Storm out of walking away.

Josephus’ “public apology” to James Storm

Following a fake commercial promoting “Invisible Hair Cream” (these are low-key great, by the way), Josephus came onto the set with a black bag in hand as footage of James Storm chasing Josephus around two weeks ago played. Via Dave Marquez, Josephus offered a public apology and a handshake to the National Champion.

Colt Cabana then came out and pantomimed as Storm, with Josephus even giving Cabana a hat and a bottle of beer to complete the impersonation. Josephus shook Cabana’s hand and offered him another gift, which ended up being a faceful of powder.

Before Josephus could attack Cabana, James Storm slid into the ring and nailed Josephus with a Last Call superkick. Before he could do the same to Cabana, Ken Anderson came out and yanked his partner out of the ring.

My thoughts: So, I guess James Storm is a tweener? This forwarded his issues with Cabana and Josephus while continuing to establish Cabana and Anderson’s partnership. Usually, the spot where a wrestler yanks their partner out of the ring to prevent an attack is reserved for heels, but it works for the babyfaces in the sense that Cabana was blinded and Storm was looking to take advantage of that. In other words, Anderson was being a good friend and teammate.
