As the go-home show before this Saturday’s Full Gear Pay-Per-View, AEW Dynamite is main evented by Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara vs. Kenny Omega and Hangman Page.

Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite opens with “The Bastard” PAC vs. one-half (or one-third, does Orange Cassidy count?) of The Best Friends, Trent in singles action. Trent is accompanied to the ring by both Cassidy and Chuckie T.

Lock up to start. PAC gets an arm wrench, but Trent turns it into an arm wrench of his own. PAC takes him down to the ground regardless. “PAC YOU SUCKS” roars through the arena from the crowd. An angry PAC rolls out to jaw jack Cassidy. Trent goes for the save, but PAC runs back in the ring. Wrestling transitions and flips/leapfrogs until Trent knocks PAC down. Trent capitalizes with a rope assisted Northern Lights Suplex for a two count. They meet on the outside, where PAC drives Trent’s head into the guardrail.

PAC then picks Trent up and drives Trent face first into the guardrail, before pulling his hair and slamming it down into the ramp. PAC goes back in the ring, seemingly allowing Trent to get counted out, but dives onto Trent with a Spaceman Plancha. He then hits a missile dropkick for a two count.

Back to his feet, PAC nails Trent with some chops, then tosses Trent into the turnbuckle. Trent sells it HBK style before getting German Suplexed by PAC. PAC follows up with a rest hold.

Trent gets out of it, but PAC stops his momentum with a forearm. But Trent still mounts some offense, only to get tossed out the ring. PAC attempts a dive, but Orange Cassidy gets in his way. PAC takes him out, but it allows Trent the chance to get back into this with a comeback spot, which includes a big dive.

Trent gets some payback outside the ring by driving PAC head first into the guardrail. PAC tosses Trent back first into the guardrail, but Trent bounces off and hits a Spear on the outside. Knee to the back of the head back in the ring, but Trent only gets a two count.

Both men back to their feet, but Trent wallops PAC with a clothesline, then a tornado DDT for a near fall. PAC rolls out the ring. Trent goes to get him, but gets a Brainbuster on the floor for his troubles. Trent looks dazed and confused. Ref checks on him before making the count. PAC tosses Trent back in the ring, before climbing to the top rope to hit a Black Arrow. It looks nearly over, but Trent gets his foot on the rope (great spot). Infuriated, PAC locks in Rings of Saturn to pass out Trent.

After the match, PAC grabs the mic to say this Saturday, he is going to make an example out of Hangman Page … “AGAIN!”

Winner: PAC

Grade: B+

The extra + is for the foot on the rope spot. Made for a great, unexpected visual spot and made me question for a sec if Trent could pull an upset. Solid start to the show and a solid match. Great way to showcase Trent’s singles ability as I always thought he was really understated/underrated outside of his tag team work.
