Colt Cabana finally gets his shot at James Storm and the NWA National Championship on what should be another great episode of Powerrr.

Last week, the folks over at the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) treated fans to arguably their best episode of Powerrr from an in-ring standpoint. If this week’s lineup is any indication, they’ll have a chance to top that effort.

Four matches are scheduled for tonight’s episode, which includes:

-James Storm (c) vs. Colt Cabana– NWA National Championship match

-Aron Stevens vs. Ricky Starks

-Thunder Rosa vs. Ashley Vox

-The Dawsons vs. Matthews Mims and Jordan Kingsley

Cabana earned that National Title shot after he, Nick Aldis, and Ken Anderson defeated Storm and the Wild Cards in a six-man tag team main event last week. Starks and Stevens also faced off last week, with Starks scoring a pinfall victory over the self-professed thespian with an O’Connor Roll pinning combination.

Rosa debuted last week following Vox’s match against Marti Belle, as she offered her hand to Belle in friendship(?). Belle left her hanging last week, but we should expect some sort of followup tonight once her match against Vox — who has looked good in her previous two Powerrr matches — concludes.

Aside from that and what should be a brief Dawsons squash, the bookers probably have some more top-notch promo work lined up to fill in the rest of the hour. So, if you’re interested in finding out what went down, flip the page for the recap.

The show opened up with a video package of Eli Drake’s four weeks of promo work and ring time, including his chats with James Storm and Tim Storm. The video concluded with highlights of last week’s six-man main event, which Colt Cabana won to get a National Title shot and with Drake stating his intentions to come for “anyone with a belt”. Cue “Into the Fire”!

Joe Galli and Jim Cornette ran through the lineup and once they finished, they threw to Dave Marquez, who summoned Colt Cabana out for an interview. Cabana discussed his impending National Championship match against James Storm, referencing last week’s main event while saying that thinking of himself as a main eventer is humbling, but he deserved it. He said he was 100 percent and ready to go before taking his leave.

Once Cabana departed, Marquez then introduced Aron Stevens as a video played of his debut match from last week. After asking Marquez to remind the audience to direct their gaze elsewhere, he dismissed his loss to Ricky Starks as a fluke — blaming “ring rust” — before proclaiming his superiority to Starks based on his track record, even imploring Marquez to “go on Youtube and see for [him]self”.

Stevens then said that he petitioned the NWA for a rematch with Starks with a stipulation “much more befitting of the tradition of the NWA”. He then touted his very distant relationship to William Shakespeare and quoted him before warning the NWA to keep their promises to him or risk losing him to Hollywood.

My Thoughts: Good short babyface promo from Cabana. Meanwhile, Stevens continues to shine with his half-Miz, half-Damien Sandow gimmick.

After a Nick Aldis commercial advertising the RetroMania Wrestling video game, we go back to the ring for our first match of the night.
