“Bad Boy” Joey Janela vs. “The Chairman” Shawn Spears (with Tully Blanchard)

This is definitely the match on the card with the least build, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be a great contest. This week on AEW Dynamite, “The Chairman” took on Brandon Cutler. It was a solid effort by Cutler, but Spears came out on top.

After the match, Spears looked to reinforce his reputation as “The Chairman” by destroying Cutler with the same steel chair that’s still stained with Cody’s blood from AEW Double or Nothing. “Bad Boy” Joey Janela hit the ring before Spears could pounce, sending him packing and setting this match up for AEW Full Gear.

Both competitors are looking for big singles victories, but I think this will be Shawn Spears’ moment. Janela is beloved and respected, so he won’t be damaged by the loss, whereas it will help set Spears up for a bigger program, potentially with “Hangman” Adam Page.

Prediction: “The Chairman” Shawn Spears

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. PAC

No match at AEW Full Gear has been building as long as this one. All the way back in January, AEW held a rally in Jacksonville about the company’s launch. “Hangman” Adam Page was speaking at the rally and found himself interrupted by PAC.

The staredown planted the seed, and things have been growing ever since then. They were initially scheduled to fight at AEW Double or Nothing, but the match was canceled just a week before the event. PAC was the reigning Open the Dream Gate Champion for Dragon Gate at the time, and it’s believed both he and Dragon Gate didn’t want him to be pinned while on an undefeated streak as their champion.

We can safely assume Page was penciled in to get the win there, as he quickly went on to challenge Chris Jericho to crown the inaugural AEW World Champion. Instead, the Adam Page actually flew to London to face PAC at a Wrestle Gate Pro event, which Page technically won when PAC intentionally low blowed the referee.

Tensions have continued to rise between these two, and they’ll be looking to finally settle things this Saturday. While PAC has been undefeated in singles action so far, I do think this will be the moment that changes. Page could pick up a big win here that would put him on the path to a future title shot.

Prediction: “Hangman” Adam Page
