AEW Full Gear: 5 biggest takeaways from the PPV

MJF is a terrible best friend
When Cody came to the ring with Maxwell Jacob Friedman for his AEW World Championship match with Chris Jericho, it had the feel of the teens in a slasher movie. Sure, the running car looks like a great way to escape, but why do that when you can hide in a room full of chainsaws! Nobody will find you there!
The same thing occurred in my mind when MJF walked with Cody on the ramp. In his match with Shawn Spears, MJF didn’t really do much to help Cody outside of ripping off his shirt and challenging Tully Blanchard to a fight. Against Jericho, he was more of a detriment, sitting back and watching while Jake Hager took every opportunity to inflict more damage on Cody.
Even after Hager was ejected, MJF took a fist to the face as Cody got wailed on even more by Jericho in the ring. Finally, as Cody was locked in the Walls of Jericho, MJF threw in the towel in a match that if his friend had lost, would take him out of the title picture permanently.
Even as everyone was shocked at the ending, MJF did what everyone expected him to do by kicking Cody in the Rhodes family jewels and revealing he just wanted him out of the way for his own benefit.
The next step is a feud between student and teacher and if Cody was aggressive in his lead-up to the match with Jericho, what will he be like when he realizes he was betrayed by his best friend?
