Jon Moxley should be Chris Jericho’s next challenger
Before we really get into this, the “Lights Out” match between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega exceeded my already violent expectations. With an array of barbed wire, mouse traps and shards of glass this was the one match that made the PPV what it was and that didn’t include all the other solid wrestling we got leading up to it.
In the aftermath, however, the biggest takeaway is that Jon Moxley should be the next challenger for Chris Jericho’s AEW World Championship. Why you ask? Look at what he just did in a match that didn’t even count!
Moxley has already set the build for this after being upset the match was changed to a non-sanctioned match (meaning it doesn’t count toward his record or in the AEW rankings) and now that he has a(n unofficial) victory over Omega, it won’t stop him in his mind from climbing up the rankings from fifth to fourth or whatever it is.
The two that should stand in his way are Pac and Hangman Page, but with Page already losing to Jericho and Pac battling to a draw with Moxley, it would be exciting to see Moxley try to run through the rankings to get a shot at Jericho. Maybe AEW will go a different direction, but it’s probably that they have big plans for Moxley in the build-up to their next PPV.
