After defeating “Hangman” Adam Page to become the inaugural AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho directed this comment toward Scorpio Sky:

So, how did the unbeaten (in AEW) Jericho fare in he and Sammy Guevara’s AEW World Tag Team Championship match against Sky and Frankie Kazarian in Dynamite’s main event this past Wednesday? Well, after Jericho scored a nearfall on Sky with a Codebreaker, Sky immediately caught Jericho in an inside cradle to hand Jericho his first loss in the promotion. It was surprising to see Jericho take the clean fall, but that’s why it worked so well. Besides, Jericho was protected by the “Any Given Sunday” nature of the loss.
With the win, Sky and Kazarian did more just retain their tag team titles; the surprise victory may have also guaranteed Sky a future title match against Jericho, a title shot that Jericho — the blowhard heel — guaranteed that Sky would never receive.
If AEW goes through with that match, it could mean big things for Sky. Sure, he probably wouldn’t win the title, but much like Darby Allin, a strong showing against a legend like Jericho could further incentivize the bookers to give the SoCal Uncensored member the push that he’s supposedly in line for.
