AEW Dynamite: Results, Grades, and Analysis for November 20, 2019
The Diamond Dozen Battle Royale
Hangman Page, Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor, Kip Sabian, Jimmy Havoc, Jungle Boy, Marko Stunt, Pentagon Jr., Sonny Kiss, Joey Janela, MJF, & Billy Gunn were the competitors in the match. Fenix came down to support Pentagon, but as he posed with him, he took his mask off and it was Christopher Daniels! Chuck Taylor sent Penthon over the top rope. Sonny Kiss distracted Billy Gunn with his rear, but MJF threw Kiss over the top rope. Everyone started beating down Gunn, as he was the biggest int eh match.
Billy Gunn threw Havoc and Marko Stunt out. Havoc came back in wit ha stapler and stapled everyone in different places, including the crotch of Billy Gunn and Chuck Taylor. After doing it to several people, the refs came out and got Havoc out. Janela skinned the cat and went up to the top rope, but Shawn Spears ran out with a chair and hit Janela, sending him to the floor and eliminating him.
Everyone brawled for a bit with MJF and Sabian trying to work over Page, but Page fought out of it. Billy Gunn went to throw MJF out, but he reversed and drove Billy into the turnbuckle. Orange Cassidy was just chilling, laying on the bottom rope. MJF got a lot of heat for beating on Chuck Taylor. Kip Sabian chopped Gunn, but Gunn no sold it and started hitting punches on everyone.
Cassidy stood up and faced him, putting his hands in his pockets and offering weak kicks. MJF grabbed Cassidy and threw him out to huge boos. Gunn kicked MJF and hit the Fameasser and tried to throw MJF out. MJF landed on the apron and Wardlow came out and distracted Gunn. Hangman hit a buckshot lariat and threw Gunn out.
Penelope Ford grabbed Chuck Taylor, and Sabian hit a dropkick, knocking Taylor out. Jungle Boy hit a flying hurricanrana on Sabian to eliminate him, and MJF sneaked around the ring and pulled Jungle Boy off the apron.
Result: MJF & Hangman Page, who advance to the finals next week for the diamond ring.
Rating: **1/2 (2.5 stars)
The battle royale was nothing special, but MJF was booked really well, and stories were advanced with the eliminations. I hope the diamond ring story ends up being more than just a diamond ring. MJF and Page had to be pulled apart.
