1. Nick Jackson

Once the Fenix vs. Nick Jackson match concluded — Fenix won via pinfall — three things became clear.

First, Fenix is really good at pro wrestling. Second, the promotion seems determined to book Fenix as a heel even though the crowd loves him (to be fair, the fans did boo him when he rejected Jackson’s handshake offer). Third, Nick Jackson could become a legitimate singles star if he wanted to.

Fenix and Jackson opened up this past Wednesday’s Dynamite with one of the best TV matches of the year: a thrilling display of athleticism and storytelling from the tag team specialists.

If you wanted to nitpick, you could critique the at-times choreographed aspects of the match, especially early on, but this got the show off to a hot start and established that the younger Jackson brother can bring the goods in the singles ranks.

We probably won’t see much more of Nick in singles action in AEW once Matt Jackson returns, and given how he interjected himself in Santana and Ortiz’s match against Private Party, the continuing feud between The Young Bucks and Proud and Powerful is clearly the direction the bookers are going in.

But for a one-off, it was a lot of fun to watch.
