On the AEW Dynamite before Thanksgiving Day, Chris Jericho defends his AEW World Championship against the man who upset him weeks ago: Scorpio Sky.

Soultrain Jones kicks off AEW Dynamite by introducing Chris Jericho for a special Thanksgiving opening celebration. Chris Jericho says that if lucky fans look under their seat, they will get a $.50 cent off Chris Jericho t-shirt. He also introduces an official “Little Bit of the Bubbly” wine that you can find on the “Little Bit of the Bubbly dot com.” Holy crap, that’s actually real. I’m not kidding, look it up!

Him and Soultrain toast “A Little Bit of the Bubbly” like a couple of gentlemen. He then introduces his best friends in the entire world to the ring. Sammy Guevara and Proud & Powerful hit the ring to give Jericho his Thanksgiving gift: a large cardboard cutout of Jericho and Sammy hugging each other. “This is amazing!” Chris Jericho gauks at his own image.

Proud and Powerful offer a “Boricua gift basket” that includes a sauce that gets rid of colds and sandals. They then move on to a giant gift in the middle of the ring. They unveil that under the box, it’s a whole man! Such wacky imagery, I love it. But this man is a former New York Ranger and Chris Jericho’s own dad. His dad bashes the town they’re in about how he used to beat their local hockey team all the time. He calls them all “wimps!”

Jericho orders Justin Roberts to read out an official “thank you” on behalf of AEW themselves. They attack Roberts right after the fact before SCU enter the ring to make the save, attacking The Inner Circle and leave them running out the ring.

Grade: B

Great way to kick off the show and get everyone hyped for the main event. Plus, just all around funny stuff.

Lucha Bros vs. Best Friends

Orange Cassidy is wearing a turkey suit. Bless.

Penta and Fenix dominate early on with a flurry of tag offense. Quick commercial break, but back from the break, Trent is able to mount a comeback. Tag to Penta, Taylor takes out Fenix after a distraction from Cassidy.

Trent reverses a Canadian Destroyer attempt into a Dudebuster for the upset win!

Grade: C

Nice surprise win there, but something just wasn’t clicking for me here. Chemistry felt off or nonexistent.
