NWA Powerrr just got a weekly upgrade in terms of star power, as they have added a man who will soon bring you “Bad News” over the broadcast.

On the Dec. 3 episode of NWA Powerrr, the promotion made a big reveal at the end of the show. But the reveal wasn’t for an attacker or even a new wrestler; it was for a new announcer.

NWA have added Stu Bennett, formerly Wade Barrett in WWE, as Jim Cornette’s much-needed replacement on the announce desk.

Bennett will begin commentary duties at NWA’s next Pay Per View on Dec. 14, titled “Into The Fire”. (You know, like the Asking Alexandria song.)

This is a massive upgrade for them. Bennett, as far as I know, has no history of racist, transphobic and homophobic remarks, nor does he wish for wrestlers to die. Jim Cornette, meanwhile, did all of those things, somehow got a job with NWA, and then went ahead and made a racist “joke” that the promotion somehow allowed to hit live air.

Needless to say, they have some work to do when it comes to rebuilding some goodwill back with a large part of its fan base.

The talent they have in the ring, though, is excellent, and fans were impressed with the production of the shows before Cornette’s awful remarks.

Now that Cornette is gone and Bennett has replaced him, things should pick up for NWA, so long as the leadership at the top is more mindful about the decisions it makes.

Bennett has accomplished a great deal in wrestling. He was an excellent GM for Defiant Wrestling and was a five-time Intercontinental Champion in WWE. The man won King of the Ring, Feud of the Year as part of the Nexus, and had a great peak in WWE’s upper mid-card.

As an announcer, he’s also excellent, and his commanding presence and insight will add a great deal to NWA Powerrr’s broadcasts, on top of the name recognition he brings. Perhaps this will move the meter, as they look to sell as many buys before the Dec. 14 date for Into The Fire.
