After hardly addressing his WWE Championship loss to Brock Lesnar in October, Kofi Kingston finally addresses the elephant in the room during the latest episode of Corey Graves’ After the Bell podcast on the WWE Network.

Last October, fans and critics alike (myself included) were frustrated to see Kofi Kingston’s six month WWE Championship reign come to an end after a 10-second match and even more frustrated to see little to no follow up on the title loss onscreen in storyline form. The closest we ever got to a follow up was a brief snippet from Kofi Kingston a couple weeks after losing his title where he claimed he wasn’t upset about his loss because he had the Power of Positivity on his side.

Again, to a lot of fans, this was a disappointing explanation that some fans viewed as a cop out of an overly simplified way to write Kofi out of the main event picture. However, in reality, it turns out this is really just how Kofi Kingston feels in real life.

On the latest episode of Corey Graves’ podcast, available on the WWE Network (per PWInsider), The New Day served as guests. Graves asked one-third of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions about the fan reaction to his abrupt title loss to Brock Lesnar during the SmackDown on FOX premiere.

Kofi said that while fans seemed to have wanted to see his character angry about his title loss, it simply would not fit his character to do so. He adds that dwelling on the past for too long only makes people miserable, hence why The New Day have always been about The Power of Positivity. Kofi appreciates the passion from fans, but does not understand the anger as he is not the person who makes decisions like this.

He echoes sentiments from Xavier Woods in saying that every segment is a battle, but The New Day will continue fighting the war to give fans what they want.

Ultimately, it appears the bigger message and picture that Kofi wants fans to takeaway from his words is that his title loss may have been disappointing, but everyone should remain optimistic for what the future holds. In other words, stay positive.
