WWE NXT: Rhea Ripley is getting her title match against Shayna Baszler
Rhea Ripley called out Shayna Baszler on the episode of WWE NXT after Survivor Series for a title match, and in two weeks, she will get her wish.
Although Rhea Ripley showed her potential at the Mae Young Classic and became the first NXT UK Champion as part of an incredible 2018, she has truly burst onto the scene as a breakout star across WWE’s top brands in the second half of 2019 as a member of the NXT roster.
Ripley was the shining star of Survivor Series Weekend, as my colleague Brett Grega wrote, winning the first ever Women’s WarGames match before pinning Team SmackDown captain Sasha Banks on Sunday. Banks is one of the biggest names in wrestling, so that was a massive moment for Ripley.
But Shayna Baszler also had a huge Survivor Series. In fact, she was the one with her hand raised at the end of the show after tapping out SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley in a champion vs. champion vs. champion dream match in the show’s main event. Baszler’s win over Becky Lynch and Bayley puts her on a pedestal in WWE, but she could finally come crashing back down to earth.

After calling out the seemingly undefeatable Baszler, who is in the midst of the only second championship reign in the history of the NXT Women’s Title, for a match last week, Ripley will get her wish.
On the Dec. 18 episode of NXT, Rhea Ripley will face Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship. And the wrestling world will watch with baited breath to see if NXT’s latest breakout star in the women’s division can end the reign of the Queen of Spades, who has beaten the likes of Bianca Belair, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Io Shirai, Mia Yim, and Kairi Sane.
That’s quite the list of talent. However, she hasn’t beaten Ripley, who has been on another level lately. WWE clearly have massive plans for her, especially after her incredible, odds-defying performances on both Saturday and Sunday of Survivor Series weekend.
Dec. 18 will be Ripley’s chance to ascend to the top of the NXT Women’s Division.
