Fans of Nia Jax and, frankly, women’s wrestling in general should be very happy to learn that Nia Jax is getting closer to a WWE in-ring return.

We have not seen Nia Jax inside of a WWE ring since WrestleMania 35. It was eight months ago that Ryan Satin of the Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Jax was most likely to miss the next nine months of in-ring action due to an ACL tear in both of her knees, an injury which Jax later confirmed.

Jax was forced to have surgery to for the repair on both of her knees and has remained on the sidelines ever since. As we slowly approach that nine month period, it appears as though Jax is making starting to make some strides in recovery.

While there is still no definitive timetable as to when we could see Jax back on television and in that ring, the former Raw Women’s Champion posted this video to her Instagram page showing her training at WWE’s Performance Center, which hints that she is on her way to return sooner rather than later. Which is splendid news.

When she was still up and active as a wrestler, prior to her injury, Nia Jax was a somewhat underappreciated gem of the women’s division by a large bulk of the wrestling community.

Given how deep the women’s roster is rooted in talented Superstars, it’s understandable why some fans may have overlooked Jax in favor of, say, Becky Lynch or (at the time) Ronda Rousey. But the truth is that Jax’s is much more valuable to the WWE roster than she is often given credit for.

It can be argued that Jax is one of the more versatile athletes on the WWE roster. When she needs to be an imposing monster to strike fear into the hearts of her opponents and audiences, she’s believable. When she needs to be a vulnerable babyface, it works.

Her performances in plenty of angles have gotten her opponents over when the time called for it and often make for entertaining segments. Here’s hoping Jax gets a speedy recovery so that she can get back to doing what she does best: wrestle.
