WWE: Nia Jax, Ruby Riott to return from injuries in January?
WWE superstars Nia Jax and Ruby Riott have been out for some time with injuries, but the company reportedly has them scheduled for returns in January 2020.
Former WWE Raw Women’s Champion Nia Jax hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 35, as she needed surgery to repair ACL tears in both of her knees. Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin reported that Nia was expected to miss nine months of action, and we’re coming closer to her potential return date.
Jax is busy training at the Performance Center for her return. According to Fightful.com’s Sean Ross Sapp, WWE have Nia scheduled for a return in January 2020 on their internal list.
Sapp notes that WWE’s injury return guidelines are estimates and do not always end up being a superstar’s actual return date, as seen by Jinder Mahal having his internal date moved from January to November. (Mahal still has not returned to in-ring competition.)
Jax isn’t the only superstar in the WWE Women’s Division who is scheduled for a return in January 2020. Sapp reports that WWE also have Ruby Riott listed for a return next month.
Riott underwent surgery on both shoulders in May, as announced by the company. The nature of her injury is unclear, but fans haven’t seen the former Riott Squad leader in a ring since late April. She last faced Dana Brooke in a taping on Main Event.
The Riott Squad have been separated, with Liv Morgan scheduled for a new gimmick in WWE; she already has vignettes playing. Meanwhile, Ruby is also signed to the Raw brand and will be itching to remind fans why she was once one of the company’s fastest-rising stars.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see Jax and Riott back in the ring sooner rather than later. They are both talented wrestlers, and Riott has “future champion” written all over her. Jax, on the other hand, already has Evolution and WrestleMania moments in her career, as well as a couple of stellar matches with another former Raw Women’s Champion in Ronda Rousey.
