WWE has been signing superstars to five-year deals, and potential 2020 breakthrough star Dana Brooke is among them.

Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods of The New Day recently signed five-year contracts with WWE, and the company is interested in locking down another fan favorite in Rusev.

You can add Dana Brooke to the list of rising stars to sign a five-year deal with the company, too, because she told Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso that she recently signed a new contract.

Brooke lost to Bayley on the Dec. 13 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, but she has another opportunity against the champion on Dec. 20 after calling out The Hugger on social media. A fan favorite who has been tabbed as one of the most underrated superstars in the company, it feels like Brooke really could pull off the upset and catch a wave of momentum heading into 2020.

Earlier in 2019, Brooke had the first women’s title match of her career in March against Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, who was on the road to putting over Becky Lynch in the first women’s main event of WrestleMania. So Brooke didn’t stand a chance of winning, but she did impress with her promos, heart, and selling during that brief storyline.

It’s hard to say if Brooke will win her first title in WWE next year, but her chances honestly look high, especially if we count the Women’s Tag Titles. She could form an exciting tag team with a number of women on the roster and win the belts that recently main evented TLC, but Brooke could also win a singles title.

Between her organic fan support (note the popular hashtag #GiveDanaAChance that sometimes pops up) and this interview with Sports Illustrated, Brooke has fan and media support. We’ve been waiting for WWE to give Brooke a big opportunity, and perhaps this program with SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley can be exactly that.

After all, Bayley has made it her goal to help push rising talent on SmackDown, and Brooke is the kind of wrestler who could benefit greatly from the spotlight. It’s great to hear she has signed a new deal with WWE, and she will continue to be a positive for fans no matter her role. But there’s evidence that a greater role for Brooke can help WWE attract more viewers, as her segments are viewed frequently on SmackDown.
