#4- Rhea Ripley wins NXT Women’s Championship on NXT TV

Although this moment took place a few days ago, its significance defines 2019. Shayna Baszler did a phenomenal job as NXT Women’s Champion. There is an argument that Ripley defeating a champion of Baszler’s caliber helped make this victory even sweeter.

For over a year, Baszler ran through the NXT women’s division and was an unstoppable force. This changed when Ripley and Baszler gave fans an instant classic for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Their match was full of emotion and excitement. Ripley walked into that match as one of the hottest wrestlers in WWE and exceeded expectations.

It remains to see how Ripley will be booked long term. How she carries the championship after the victory can either help or hurt the impact of her defeating Baszler.

More often than not, when a championship changes hands, what can make or break a new champions run is judged on what they bring to the championship.

The final moment of last Wednesday’s NXT as Ripley was being celebrated in the middle of the ring with fans and fellow wrestlers is a moment that will resonate for a long time. Baszler was instrumental in helping Ripley’s championship win feel special to everyone. Now that Ripley has the ball, let’s see how she runs with it.

Heading into 2020, there will be a long list of women in NXT for Ripley to feud with.
