All eyes were on WWE Raw for the final episode of the decade as it was highlighted by Lana and Bobby Lashley’s wedding. To say it ended in chaotic fashion would be an understatement.

Then again, at least 90% of wedding angles in WWE history always end in chaos, right? This ending in particular, though, was a bit different and I sincerely doubt most fans could have predicted the outcome.

The final episode of WWE’s premiere flagship show ended with the wedding of Bobby Lashley and Lana’s wedding as the show’s main event segment. At first, it went on more or less how fans may imagine it’d go, judging from Lana and Lashley’s more recent promos together.

A priest recited words from a little black book (as with most weddings, although this wedding was severely lacking in groomsmen, bridesmaids and, well, guests). Lashley perfectly uttered vows written by Lana herself. Then, the priest asked if anyone objected to the wedding. That’s when things got … interesting, to say the least.

First, a man came out claiming to be Lana’s first husband, only to get beat up by Lashley. Then, a woman came out claiming to be Lashley’s first wife, only to get beat up by Lana. Then, a more familiar, unexpected face made her way down the ramp in the form of Liv Morgan.

Morgan shouted at the person in the ring her broke her heart once upon a time ago, but she wasn’t talking to Lashley … she was talking to Lana.

Then things got weird when Rusev jumped out of a cake, but we don’t have to talk about that. The biggest talking point here is that WWE have introduced an LGBTQ+ element into this storyline.

Older fans may recall that the first time that WWE introduced an actual LGBTQ+ storyline was the coupling of then-WWE Tag Team Champions Billy and Chuck in 2002. A storyline which (ironically enough) ended unceremoniously in a wedding where both characters admitted they were straight and were pretending to be gay for publicity.

That storyline twist infamously drew the ire of GLADD (which actually helped consult with WWE on the storyline in preparation for the wedding) but perhaps, this latest reveal in this storyline 17 years later could allow WWE to correct those wrongs, if they handle this storyline appropriately and delicately moving forward, of course. Only time will tell.

If you’re frustrated with WWE, it’s time to break up. dark. Next

But for now, all we know is that Liv Morgan once dated Lana and Rusev is prone to pop out of giant cakes at your local event (so, he must be fun at parties). We’ll have to tune in next time to see where the new decade steers this angle in 2020.
