WWE fans have noted that Nia Jax and Ruby Riott are close to returning from injuries, and WWE Royal Rumble 2020 truly looks like a logical return date for both women.

There are few pops quite as satisfying as a Royal Rumble return. At WWE Royal Rumble 2020, fans are already expecting the likes of Jinder Mahal to return to the Men’s match and Naomi to be in the Women’s match.

And now, PW Insider’s Mike Johnson is reporting that Nia Jax and Ruby Riott are scheduled to be in Houston next weekend for the Rumble Pay Per View at Minute Maid Park.

It’s important to note that their expected presence in Houston during the show doesn’t necessarily mean they are available to wrestle. The have been training hard at the Performance Center, but they are coming off serious injuries. That said, it’s worth keeping an eye on Riott and Jax as possible returns, and it’s great news to hear they are in attendance.

Jax and Riott are both coming off serious injuries. The former hasn’t wrestled since WrestleMania 35, as she underwent surgery to repair BOTH torn ACLs. Likewise, Riott had surgery on both of her shoulders and has been out since May. So both women have been out with injuries for about eight months.

Last year, we saw Nia play a critical role at the Rumble PPV, including an awesome cameo at the end of the Men’s Rumble match. She eliminated fan favorite Mustafa Ali, which helped her obtain even more heel heat, before getting her “comeuppance” in the form of taking finishers from several men including Randy Orton.

Again, there’s no guarantee they actually wrestle at the show, but if they do appear, they will almost certainly be greeted positively by the WWE audience. And in Nia’s case, yes, boos are positive. No matter what the fans in Houston think, she’s sure to get a massive reaction. For the record, I think she’ll get cheered. Fans would have a nice feel-good pop in store for Ruby.
