Angel Garza defended the new-look NXT Cruiserweight Championship at the Worlds Collide Pay Per View against Travis Banks, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, and Jordan Devlin. And it was the last of those four names who emerged victorious.

Jordan Devlin has been one of the best wrestlers on this planet over the past three years, and he showed the full extent of his capabilities in a match earlier this month at NXT UK TakeOver Blackpool against Tyler Bate. Both men received standing ovations from William Regal and Triple H, as they put on an absolute show in front of a fired up audience.

And at Worlds Collide on Saturday, Jan. 25 – the kick-off to Royal Rumble weekend – Devlin put on another show for wrestling fans.

Angel Garza put the redesigned NXT Cruiserweight Championship on the line against fellow NXT superstar Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and familiar NXT UK foes Travis Banks and Devlin.

All four men tore the house down in a match that was the best of the night to that point – and will probably be one of the best Fatal Four-Way matches of the entire year – but it was Devlin who emerged victorious.

Devlin cut a promo after becoming the first NXT UK superstar to grab the Cruiserweight Title, stating that “You never bet against an ace.”

His determined words rang around the arena and sunk in to the fans at home. Everyone had just witnessed four of the most talented wrestlers in WWE put it all on the line for the title, so Devlin’s victory put him over that much more as the “ace” of NXT UK. (At least, that’s where he sees himself in the hierarchy of stars on the brand.)

Worlds Collide has been all about elevating NXT UK on the level of NXT, which was presented as an equal to Raw and SmackDown at Survivor Series. So in effect, this is a show on the level of Survivor Series that takes place during Rumble weekend.

Therefore, Devlin’s status as an NXT UK champion holding the Cruiserweight Championship must be considered in the context of the Worlds Collide show. NXT UK is on the rise in 2020, and Devlin’s title win is a major statement. He’s headed for another special year.
