WWE: Rumor on four women set to compete in Royal Rumble 2020
WWE Royal Rumble 2020 is shaping up to be another show for the ages, as the company hit its last two Rumble matches out of the park. Here’s a spoiler on four accomplished wrestlers who are scheduled to join tonight’s match.
While there are only three unannounced spots remaining in the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match, most of the field for the WWE Women’s Rumble remains wide open. The likes of Naomi, Ruby Riott, and Nia Jax could potentially make returns from injury for the 30-superstar match in Houston, but there are a few other names rumored to be partaking in the match.
PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reports, via IWNerd.com, that four women are scheduled to be in the match. They report Shayna Baszler, Mercedes Martinez, Molly Holly, and Beth Phoenix will be in the match.
Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue recently reported that Phoenix could be making an appearance in this year’s Rumble. And Colohue has consistently named Shayna Baszler, who is literally the betting favorite, as his expected Rumble winner.
Meanwhile, Martinez recently signed with WWE and was spotted in the crowd at the NXT vs. NXT UK Pay Per View “Worlds Collide” in Houston on Saturday night.
Molly Holly is thus the most surprising of the four names, but the WWE legend was a standout in the first Women’s Rumble match two years ago. She’d be a welcome addition to the field, even if she won’t have nearly as high of a chance as winning as Baszler or even Phoenix.
All four of these women should get massive pops from the Minute Maid Park crowd if they do make an appearance on Sunday night. They are among the most respected wrestlers in the world.
Of course, Baszler is the one to keep an especially close eye on. After facing Becky Lynch in the main event of Survivor Series, The Queen of Spades is the favorite to face Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36.
