Edge made a dream return at WWE Royal Rumble 2020, but who will he face at the Show of Shows in April?

Even though the rumor mill swirled with updates about a potential shock Royal Rumble return from The Rated R Superstar, we could all scarcely believe our ears when Edge‘s theme song, “Metalingus” by Alter Bridge, rocked Minute Maid Park in the middle of the match.

And then when Edge started cleaning the ring with spears, it all sunk in.

Edge has been medically cleared to wrestle after taking years away from the ring due to a serious neck injury that threatened his career. The severity of this injury cannot be understated, and there are still many fans who are nervous about The Ultimate Opportunist wrestling again in WWE.

But we have to be honest; it was awesome seeing him back in the ring.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, via IWNerd.com, Edge is penciled in to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania 36.

It’s a match that would make a ton of sense.

Orton and Edge immediately gave fans flashbacks to the popular tag team “Rated RKO” by briefly working together in the Rumble match. But in the end, Edge, living up to his nickname and past reputation, eliminated The Viper before Orton could do the same to him.

A nostalgic WrestleMania match between Edge and Orton could be incredible, and WWE can safely trust Orton to work with a returning Edge in the ring. It would be a great, non-title rivalry match at WrestleMania that would bring some of the fans of the past into the show. And perhaps they can get hooked on WWE again when the see the likes of Sasha Banks vs. Bayley, Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch, Drew McIntyre, and the other stars of today on the show.

Next. Drew McIntyre's Rumble win was a dream come true. dark

There’s no guarantee Orton vs. Edge will be the match at WrestleMania, but, again, it would make a world of sense.
