Brock Lesnar only increased the aura around Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle is the King of Bros. He’s the chillest man on the planet. And he isn’t bothered by any insults from Brock Lesnar.

Pro Wrestling Sheet first reported that Brock Lesnar and Matt Riddle got into a “verbal altercation” backstage before the Royal Rumble Pay Per View began. It was Riddle’s highlight of the night, since he lasted less than one minute in the match and recorded no eliminations.

What happened during this “altercation”?

A whole lot of nothing, to be precise.

In fact, it was less of an “altercation” and more of Brock Lesnar engaging in a brief, one-sided shouting match against a composed Riddle.

According to talkSPORT’s Alex McCarthy, Lesnar apparently grabbed Riddle’s shoulder and said,

"“Kid, you might as well stop saying my name and tagging me in sh*t because you and I will never work together. Ever.”"

And what did Riddle do?

He was reportedly his “usual, cool, and composed self”.

Cue the trio of laughing emojis at Brock.

First of all, “never” is a strong word. And using the word “never” in pro wrestling? You’d think Lesnar would know better, given that he sold for AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan in back-to-back Survivor Series Pay Per Views – neither of which seemed like possibilities just a few years ago.

So a match against a former MMA star who defeated Kassius Ohno in mere seconds on his TakeOver debut suddenly doesn’t sound like something that will “never” happen.

And if anything, Lesnar made it more likely for Riddle to accomplish this dream match. OK, maybe the King of Bros won’t be the one to retire The Beast at WrestleMania in the future, but you have to admit that Lesnar just planted an interesting seed for a future encounter.

Riddle now has even more motivation to work towards a dream match with Lesnar. WWE loves redemption stories. In fact, the Royal Rumble match both men participated in was one thousand percent a real-life redemption story for Drew McIntyre, formerly nicknamed “The Chose One”.

Proving the guy wrong when he said you’d never even share the ring with him? That sounds like a perfect story. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I wouldn’t even be shocked if Lesnar had that in the back of his mind, knowing the story of this “altercation” would hit the press.

Next. Early Elimination Chamber Predictions. dark

If the best part of this story is that the likelihood of a match between them increased, then the second best part is the visual of a chill Riddle standing there perfectly unbothered after a still-red-in-the-face Lesnar blew up at him over some tweets. Brilliant.
