Current rumors have suggested that there is a dispute between Rusev and the WWE over his contract. A new report suggests otherwise.

For months now, we have heard reports regarding how badly WWE want to renew Rusev’s contract in the near future. The company seeing Rusev as a top priority seems to explain why his love triangle angle between himself, Lana and Bobby Lashley has been positioned as a main event angle ever since the tail end of last summer.

However, it has been a couple weeks since Rusev has appeared on WWE TV, with the storyline quietly phasing both Lashley and Rusev (for the time being at least) to focus on a feud between Lana and Liv Morgan. While The Dominator has his eyes set on inserting himself into the World Title picture, The Bulgarian Brute has been absent from any and all current storylines.

Most sites are reporting that the reason is because the wrestler either walked away or was sent home following a contract dispute that neither he nor the company could agree to the proper terms for, but notable and always trustworthy insider journalist Tom Colohue shuts down that rumor in his latest video report.

In said video, Colohue says that he has not heard anything from anything backstage regarding a contract dispute or a walkout. Simply put, all he has been told is that Rusev was given some time off to “clear his head” and “think about an offer.”

Rusev is expected to return later this month for WWE’s next show in Saudi Arabia to compete in the Gauntlet Match (also featuring R-Truth, Bobby Lashley, Erick Rowan, AJ Styles, and US Champion Andrade) for the Tuwaiq Trophy. With Lashley in the match as well, it is expected those two will pick their feud up where they left off starting that night.
