WWE: 3 reasons why John Cena should not face Elias at WrestleMania 36
The latest WWE Rumors indicate that John Cena’s opponent at WrestleMania 36 could be Elias, whom he had a verbal showdown with at least year’s Show of Shows. Here’s why that shouldn’t be the 16-time champion’s match.
Nobody is quite sure whether or not John Cena will have a match at WWE WrestleMania 36. Last year, for the first time, he didn’t have a place on the card, which spoke volumes about the way the talent have stepped up over the past year. Becky Lynch was the main event hero, Kofi Kingston had the most impactful win of the night, and others like Seth Rollins and The Miz had big performances, too.
This year, though, Cena is expected to have a match at the Show of Shows again. WrestleMania 36 will take place near his residence in Tampa, which seems to only boost the chances of fans seeing Cena in the ring.
But since Cena didn’t appear at the Royal Rumble and won’t make his appearance on WWE television until the Feb. 28 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, it’s anyone’s guess as to who he’ll face.
Sportskeeda’s Tom Colohue has King Corbin as a likely opponent, while the Wrestling Observer News’ Dave Meltzer reported that Elias is currently penciled in as Cena’s match at ‘Mania.
While Elias is a talented superstar and a fan favorite, here are three reasons why “The Drifter” shouldn’t be Cena’s opponent in spite of the latter’s affinity for working with the guitar-strumming SmackDown star.
