CM Punk was on the Swings and Mrs. podcast when he revealed what wrestlers he would like to face if the situation was right.

CM Punk was a guest on the podcast, Swings and Mrs. Cody Decker asked his guest “what would it ever take for you to actually get back into a pro wrestling ring?”

Punk replied that the answer changes and is fluid:

"“Currently, if the business was right and I had somebody that motivated me across the ring from me, I think, might be able to get it done. Nobody has dangled the correct carrot.”"

First, Punk listed off wrestlers he’s faced before: Daniel Bryan, John Cena and Rey Mysterio. If any of those guys were interested in a match, he’d listen to the offer.

Decker then asked about current wrestlers to which Punk answered:

"“I think Will Ospreay, I’d listen to your idea.” He goes on to say “there’s a lot of moving parts. I’m busy doing other stuff and nobody has found the right combination of ways to approach me.”"

Punk naming Ospreay isn’t a huge surprise. He has stated in the past that he thinks Ospreay is one of the best wrestlers.

Someone make this man an offer! Ospreay is coming off his best year in pro wrestling yet. He’s already had high profile matches this year against Hiromu Takahashi and Zack Sabre, Jr. Ospreay even organized a show with WrestleTalk that took place with no fans and raised money for indie talent.

Ospreay is one of the best of this generation. He is innovative and wrestles with reckless abandon. Punk is one of the best of his generation. He is methodical and aggressive in the ring. Punk is also 41 and hasn’t wrestled full time in several years, although he has periodically wrestled since leaving WWE.

Ospreay is the current RevPro British Heavyweight Champion. RevPro could be a company large enough to make an offer for a one-off match between the “Aerial Assassin” and “The Voice of the Voiceless.” RevPro has the indie cred and the popularity to host a big match like this.

Another possibility could be NJPW. Punk has never wrestled in NJPW before. Ospreay is one of their biggest stars. This has WrestleKingdom written all over it. Chris Jericho has had several big matches at the company’s biggest event. Ospreay vs. Punk is a match of that caliber and deserves to be on a big stage.

If Punk is coming back for one last big match against one of the current Best In the World, there is no one better to stand across the ring from him than Ospreay.
