While we look towards wrestling feds like AEW or NJPW as possible homes for Lio Rush in his post-WWE career, what if we went somewhere completely different like, say, AAA?

According to Cagesideseats, wrestling legend Konnan is eyeing three former WWE Superstars recently released from the company on “Black Wednesday” to bring to AAA (where he currently works as a booker, manager, commentator, and creative consultant).

Those three stars are Primo, Epico and Lio Rush. Rush in particular is an interesting case when we break it down.

Out of the several Superstars who were released on that fateful Wednesday, Lio Rush was one of the names with the most excitement surrounding him regarding where his post-WWE life could take him next.

Social media were quick to speculate his next destination. A favorable go-to answer was him joining the high flying community among All Elite Wrestling’s roster. Others suggested he’d make a great asset among New Japan Pro Wrestling’s junior heavyweight division. Ring of Honor was listed as a sleeper pick as well.

Few – if anyone – thought about a future where Rush went to AAA and frankly, that might be the best option for him.

AAA has been known to house some of the best lucha libre action that the wrestling world has to offer. With Rush being one of the best lucha wrestlers on the planet, the prospect of him wrestling guys like Argenis and Drago is a fun one to ponder upon.

And if Rush had loftier, more Western ambitions as far as where to wrestle, AAA would make for a nice base to start off coming out of WWE before settling on a place to call his own in America. AAA has been a place where some of the hottest new acts have gained recognition before going to AEW or WWE. Names like Scarlett Bordeaux, Karrion Kross and Sammy Guevara are some more recent examples who got their start in AAA.

Then, of course, there are stars like Fenix, Pentagon Jr., Kenny Omega and Laredo Kid who’ve made appearances for both AAA and AEW in the last year. Since the two promotions have a working relationship, it sets the stage for an elite debut for Rush.

While the prospect of Lio Rush going some place more well known like AEW sounds lucrative, don’t rule out a move to AAA when the time is right.
