Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. MCMG

In 2008 at ROH’s Death Before Dishonor VI, the Guns took on the popular team of Kevin Steen and El Generico. The crowd was split right down the middle in their support.

This match had lots of spitting and snot rockets. (My sister said, “If that happened now, they’d say ‘Eww! COVID-19!'”) It also has a lot of what makes both teams fan favorites. By this point, MCMG had been together for a couple of years and were very fluid. Steen and Generico were very similar as a team.

A memorable moment: Sabin kicked Generico in the stomach before pulling him into the corner. Steen stood up on the second rope after hitting Sabin in the back when Shelley climbed up and stood on his partner’s back to hit Steen with a Super Chinbreaker. Sabin followed up by lawn darting Generico into Steen.

An excellent match with four incredible talents.

MCMG vs. Bryan Danielson & Austin Aries

During that same year, Shelley & Sabin took on Bryan Danielson and Austin Aries for the Tag Team titles.

MCMG flex their mat-based skills against Danielson and Aries, which is something we didn’t see a lot of. Eventually, they pull off their tandem offenses that we were accustomed to. Overall, the match was more of Danielson and Aries’s styles.

The match ended in a 20 minute time limit draw. After chanting for “five more minutes”, the fans got their wish. This set up an exciting, frenzied five minutes.

The Guns proved their versatility going toe-to-toe with the American Dragon and Aries.
