AEW Double or Nothing 2020 is finally upon us. And some of us here at Daily DDT have some predictions for how the night will unfold. Which of us got it right?

Believe it or not, AEW Double or Nothing 2020 is already here. Seems like just yesterday the wrestling world was discussing how pay-per-views and major events would look in the middle of a global pandemic. After two attempts at it by WWE, it’s time for All Elite Wrestling to take their shot.

The card is stacked, with title implications all over the place — three championship matches, a number one contender’s match, and a ladder match to guarantee a future world title opportunity are all booked. And that’s only half the planned matches!

The writers at Daily DDT decided to compare, contrast, and discuss our predictions for the night. Without further ado, here’s what we came up with for AEW Double or Nothing 2020.

Private Party vs. Best Friends (Buy-In Match; Winner named #1 Contender for AEW World Tag Team Championship)

Bryan Heaton: I’ve been on the Best Friends train for a long time, so if you think I’m going against them, you’re insane.

I like Private Party just fine, but I feel like they’ve been almost an afterthought these past few weeks. They’ve been a staple on Dark, but haven’t been in a ring on Dynamite since early March — I can’t imagine a jump straight to challenging for the titles. Dustin and Greg will hug it out after a hard-fought victory.

Chris Jeter: Given Kenny Omega’s recent in-ring encounters with Trent Beretta, a Best Friends win makes a lot of sense. Then again, I could see Private Party getting the win as a route to another showcase opportunity against two members of The Elite. Decisions, decisions.

*flips coin*

I’ll pick Best Friends to win clean and get the title shot.

Samantha Schipman: This is going to be a really good match. As much as I like Private Party, we haven’t seen much from them lately outside of Being the Elite and a match on Dark. Best Friends have the best overall record behind the tag team champs at 7-3.

If records are supposed to mean something, I’m not quite sure why Best Friends wouldn’t automatically face Hangman & Omega on Dynamite. Also, Private Party is skipping Dark Order, unless Evil Uno & Stu Grayson are choosing not to compete due to the novel coronavirus. Best Friends get the win here.

Jesse Velasquez: This should be a solid Buy In match, and they threw the number 1 contender stipulation in for the AEW tag team titles. It’s been difficult to build anything since the quarantine began. Private Party is knocking on the door for a title shot, but I feel it’s not quite their time just yet. Best Friends take it.
