AEW: Top 5 Theme Songs for Men, Women, and Tag Teams
By Bassam Kaado
Number 4
Men’s Division
Darby Allin – “I Fell”
If Darby was in another promotion, this song could easily take a run at being number 1.
This song is perfect for the one that calls himself Relentless. The music is great, and the grunge vocals, lyrics, and style fit Allin so well. I pop for it every time that guy makes his way to an AEW ring, and I am not the only one. When there were still crowds, everyone went crazy for that opening guitar riff. The lyrics also convey the attitude and perspective of Darby’s character. Sooner than later, this song will be playing for a champion.
Chances of you wanting to do something reckless? High.
Strong desire to dive into the Seattle grunge scene and replay bands from the 90’s? Caution warning: very possible.
Likelihood of listening to it outside of a wrestling show? Abso-Darby Allen-Lutely.
Women’s Division
Awesome Kong – “8 Million Ways”
It’s a shame she hasn’t wrestled as much recently. She is a great competitor, and this theme song just makes her presence that much more menacing. The constant person saying “there’s 8 million ways to die, choose one” definitely hurts it a bit, but the music still holds song.
This is one of those situations where a simple composition helps a theme song be consistent throughout. The song sets the tone, captivates the audience, and lets Kong do her job.
A creepy theme song that could also work for so many other wrestlers? Yes.
Reminiscent of listening to a great song and DJ interrupts it or yells over it? Ugh, yes.
Likelihood of listening to it outside of a wrestling show? This could go either way, it can be a bit too static over time for my taste.
Tag Team Division
Best Friends and Orange Cassidy – “Best Friends Theme Song”
Dun, dun dun dun, dun dun dun, dun dun dun, dun dun dun, dun dun dun, dun dun, boow baba bow baba bow, baba BEST FRIENDS.
Was I having a stroke? No, that is how the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy’s theme song goes, and it’s extremely catchy. To be honest with you, I don’t even know how to describe it to you. It’s simple overall, but there is a lot going on in the song’s composition. It is addicting, and you can just replay it over and over again. I honestly feel like it fits Orange Cassidy better than the Best Friends, but Chuck Taylor and Trent (listed on the AEW website as Trent?) ushered in this electric ear worm.
Makes me want to hug my best friend? Whatever.
A good song to start off my day and predictive? Sure, whatever works.
Likelihood of listening to it outside of a wrestling show? I guess it works wherever.
