Ranking The Top 5 Wrestling Video Games
By Grant Mannis
5. WWE 2K19
The most recent entry on this list, one can argue that WWE 2K19 is the strongest addition to the franchise on current-gen consoles. Featuring a plethora of WWE superstars, this video game has more than enough content to keep users engaged.
For those who prefer to create their own wrestling promotion, WWE 2K19 has an unbelievable amount of customization options. Along with creating your own superstar, this game allows custom arenas, logos, shows, and even championships. All of these can be implemented in the game’s Universe Mode, a portion of the game that puts you in control of the action.
Outside of the customization options, WWE 2K19 also has an absolutely phenomenal (see what I did there) playlist featuring cover star AJ Styles. A gauntlet based challenge, the AJ Styles playlist takes the player and pits them against some of the Phenomenal One’s greatest opponents.
Originally a way to enter into the WWE 2K Million Dollar Challenge, completing this playlist is still a must for any diehard wrestling fan. You’ll feel a sense of pride and accomplishment that isn’t present in most wrestling video games, but you probably won’t want to run through it more than once.
If that isn’t enough for you, there’s the 2K Showcase Mode, which for this installment featured Daniel Bryan. From his early stint in 2002 to his return at WrestleMania 34, 2K19 allowed fans to live out Bryan’s greatest career moments. All in all, this Showcase Mode is something that any fan of WWE should go ahead and experience.
