2. WWE SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain

In the early 2000’s, it goes without saying that the Playstation 2 had the definitive edge when it came to WWE games. While the Xbox struggled to entice fans with RAW & RAW 2, the PS2 offered a plethora of exciting wrestling titles. Standing at the apex was WWE SmackDown: Here Comes The Pain, a game that is fondly remembered by many WWE fans.

Among the various modes that were featured in Here Comes The Pain, the best has to be the Season Mode. Taking place over one calendar year, the Season Mode offered a wide range of twists and turns which meant every experience was a new one.

For example, a player could choose to align with Mr. McMahon and have an easier path to success, or they could defy authority and battle much tougher opponents. No matter how you played the game, there was something enjoyable for all types of wrestling fans.

If you got tired of Season Mode, then you could always hop over to the exhibition section, where nearly every match type in WWE history was available. Featuring endless hours of entertainment, this is where the true creativity of players could shine, which in turn helped to elevate Here Comes The Pain as one of the top wrestling games.
