The first night of AEW Fyter Fest 2020 was thrilling throughout the card.

AEW Fyter Fest 2020 featured a couple of big title matches on its first night, but none felt bigger than the Women’s Title bout between Hikaru Shida and Penelope Ford. Running counter to NXT Great American Bash, Fyter Fest was another strong effort from All Elite Wrestling, who will look to have a successful Night 2 next week on July 8.

Here are five takeaways from AEW Fyter Fest 2020.

Wardlow and MJF are one step closer to falling apart.

MJF owns a Pay Per View victory over Cody Rhodes in his AEW career and has rarely lost, but he fell in a tag match with Wardlow by his side. Jungle Boy and Luchasauraus were incredibly impressive, but it was actually MJF who cost his side the match by bringing out the brass ring. He insulted Wardlow when Luchasaurus escaped his grasp before MJF could use the brass ring.

Wardlow and MJF have a lot of potential together, but there is no way they fulfill that potential. The Battle Royal, which Jungle Boy won, for an opportunity at Cody’s TNT title served to tease a breakup between Wardlow and MJF, with the latter expecting Wardlow to simply guard him throughout the match. MJF’s ego is the real issue here, and Wardlow could be poised for a big babyface turn.
