AEW: 4 wrestlers who can win the Women’s Title in 2020
Hikaru Shida has been an amazing AEW Women’s Champion, but the competition around her is waiting for her to slip.
Since winning the title off Nyla Rose at AEW Double or Nothing 2020 in a No Disqualification match, Hikaru Shida has been on a tear. She had a brilliant title defense against Penelope Ford on the first night of Fyter Fest, showing the whole world why she is one of the top five wrestlers in the company right now.
As such, Shida, who is an excellent babyface, should have a lengthy reign as champion that lasts a few more months. I want to make that crystal clear. However, there are some other incredibly talented women in the division who are ready to take the title from her. Here are three wrestlers who could be the next to hold the title down the road.
Nyla Rose
Let’s start with Nyla Rose, who is about to announce a new manager. Rose has seen the success so many wrestlers in AEW, such as TNT Champion Cody Rhodes and world title contender Brian Cage, have had with a manager in their corner. And to be honest with you, we don’t see nearly enough women in wrestling benefiting from a manager.
Rose and Shida had an amazing rivalry, so it’s unlikely AEW goes back to that story so quickly. But maybe they do and maybe they want to put the title back on Rose, who is one of their best all-around performers and well-respected by the fans. And maybe they want to have the manager immediately pay dividends for Rose, who later passes the title on to a different babyface.
The first two-time champion in the company? I like the sound of that!
