AEW is in the process of building new stars in its second year of existence, and they are off to a successful start in 2020.

The wrestling business is all about building stars, but it’s one of the most difficult things to do. Fortunately, AEW have the benefit of being a new promotion and having a lot of young, talented wrestlers who haven’t been exposed to a wide audience before.

Here are five wrestlers who have shown that in 2020, they are on the fast-track to true stardom in this industry.

Nyla Rose

Let’s start with Nyla Rose, who started the year in the best way possible by winning the AEW Women’s Championship in a Four-Way match on Dynamite to take the title off Riho. Dr. Britt Baker DMD and Hikaru Shida were also involved in the match.

Rose’s rise as champion comes as no surprise, since fans knew pretty early on that Rose has the charisma and in-ring chops to become one of the best champions in the company. She had a strong reign, wrestling top talents like Shanna, Big Swole, Baker, Kris Statlander, Penelope Ford, and Riho. Her title defense against Statlander was a huge moment for her at the acclaimed Revolution Pay Per View.

While Rose dropped the title a few months later to Hikaru Shida, her feud with Shida helped build another big star in the AEW Women’s Division, which has regularly become the cornerstone of Dynamite each week.
