The SoCal Uncensored member is now the number one contender to Cody’s championship. Here’s why the former tag champ should get the win.

Following TNT Champion Cody’s tag team win with Matt Cardona (f.k.a. Zack Ryder) over Dark Order scrubs Alex Reynolds and John Silver on the Aug. 5 episode of All Elite Wrestling (AEW): Dynamite, Scorpio Sky me “The American Nightmare” on the babyface entranceway.

The first-ever AEW World Tag Team Champion then tapped on the TNT Championship hanging over Cody’s shoulder before leaving, indicating his interest in a title shot in the near future.

Well, that near future will come in about a week’s time, as AEW announced that Sky would get his title shot against Cody on the Aug. 12 Dynamite broadcast.

The man who makes up one-third of the So Cal Uncensored trio with Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian has acquitted himself well in singles competition over the last few months, though the bookers have mostly used him in enhancement matches on AEW: Dark. Still, Sky has racked up the wins with his TKO finisher, and this unsung solo success culminated in an ear-catching promo on the Aug. 4 webisode of Dark.

With all that going for him, it seems silly for Sky to merely become another notch on in inaugural TNT Champ’s figurative and literal belt. To be clear, there’s no shame in losing to Cody in a competitive championship match — a time limit draw wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, either — but just as many, if not more, positives could come out of a Sky victory. Here are a few of them.
