What are the biggest rumors in professional wrestling this week?
The world of professional wrestling is evolving, and every day we hear a new thing doing the rounds of the rumour mill. Every week we get some information that keeps us occupied, but were you aware of the news that kept the wrestling fans at the edge of their seats. We bring you this week’s article of our rumour roundup:
Who Inspired Matt Hardy’s ‘Delete’ Gimmick
Matt Hardy received injuries at AEW’s All Out Show and addressed his current state at the weekly episode of AEW Dynamite. The former WWE Tag Team Champion spoke at length about his character and how this has helped him become relevant in the final stage of his career.
The superstar who revolutionized Ladder Matches alongside his brother Jeff is innovative, and his ‘Delete’ gimmick has been through three different companies as of this writing. This character has been a part of Impact Wrestling, WWE and All Elite Wrestling as well.
The high-flyer recently spoke on The Chris Van Vliet Show and had this to say about his character:
"“Well, I mean, that’s why the whole ‘Broken’ Matt Hardy character was created in the first place. Because thinking back and looking at the landscape of things, all these young guys that are 25-35 that are in super top shape, super athletic and super healthy in so many ways, and don’t have their body covered with scar tissue like mine is. When I was thinking about those characters, I said, ‘what if I could do a throwback to the days of Papa Shango? The days of The Undertaker? Trying to create a character that’s somewhat magical, somewhat over the top? And that was the whole mindset.” Credit: Wrestling Inc"
Jeff Hardy interested in bringing back Willow
The Charismatic Enigma has a lot to deal with at this moment with Sami Zayn and AJ Styles on SmackDown. The risk-taker is known for his daredevil moves, and just like his brother Matt, Jeff also introduced a character called Willow that awaits its entry in the WWE. The former champion has been through a series of ups and downs in his personal life, but he has been extremely successful with his characters.
During a recent conversation with BT Sport, Jeff expressed his desire to bring Willow to WWE. A feud between Willow and The Fiend is a hit, but before that happens here’s what the Intercontinental Champion had to say:
"“Years ago, I used to be Jeff Hardy and then I’d be this guy called Willow,” Hardy said. “Willow was kind of my go-to wrestling persona. That’s another dream of mine before I’m done. I want to bring Willow into the WWE Universe and see what could happen. I just have a strange feeling that something crazy cool could happen between Willow and The Fiend.” Credit: WrestlingInc"
Is Ronda Rousey Returning to WWE?
The Baddest Women on the Planet took a hiatus after WrestleMania 35 as she suffered an injury and had plans to start a family. A year and a half later she can be seen in the recent Instagram posts by Ariel Teal Toombs, aka Teal Piper who is the daughter of the WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. [H/T: Bodyslam.net]
Teal has been out due to an ACL/meniscus reconstruction for the last six months, and it looks like the UFC Hall of Famer wanted to help Piper get in shape before she returns.
While this may be a possibility, the other option is that the former Raw Women’s Champion may be training for an in-ring return.
Will Summer Rae Join WWE?
Danielle Moinet, also known to WWE Universe as Summer Rae raised speculations about her return to the WWE when she sent out a tweet yesterday which read:
It does raise speculations and gives the rumour mill a reason to talk about because since her release the former WWE superstar has stayed away from any comment that coincides with a WWE word. If this does happen, the big question is which story will she be a part of and how will she perform in the new age because things have changed in the company since her last tenure or will we see a new Summer Rae.
