WWE Rumors: New singles competitor seen as one of company’s best promos
Zelina Vega recently began her singles career as Asuka’s WWE Raw Women’s Championship opponent, and she has plenty of support within the company.
Wrestling fans have held Zelina Vega in high regard ever since she emerged as a key part of the WWE NXT roster. As Andrade “Cien” Almas’ business associate, Zelina played an instrumental role in El Idolo’s own rise to prominence and run as NXT Champion. In kayfabe, she turned around his career, and, in reality, she was indispensable to his stardom.
On Raw and SmackDown, Zelina showed her excellent promo skills and quality in the ring, but the former wrestler for TNA did not get much shine. Because, well, Andrade’s push never quite materialized despite one nondescript United States Title reign.
Now, Zelina has branched off on her own after leaving the now-defunct pairing of Andrade and Angel Garza. And she faced Asuka at Clash of Champions, impressing in a Raw Women’s Title match against one of the world’s best wrestlers.
Zelina has been impressing plenty of people backstage, not just fans.
WWE officials are high on Zelina Vega, including Vince McMahon
According to an exclusive report from Inside The Ropes, WWE management has been “really impressed” with the wrestler and manager. Further, she is referred to as one of the best talkers in the company on any roster, and the report from Inside The Ropes confirms that Vince McMahon is indeed high on her. The company, in addition to touting her promos, viewed her in-ring work with Asuka positively.
This is all excellent news for Zelina Vega and for wrestling fans, because Vega has earned the utmost respect of WWE fans since the Fall of 2017 when she guided El Idolo to success on the Black and Gold brand.
It will be exciting to see how Zelina’s singles career unfolds, because Clash of Champions was a big “first” for her. She has done well with this opportunity and has shown her star potential. Zelina was a great manager, but she can be so much more as a singles competitor. Perhaps if she keeps impressing people backstage, a title win may be in her future.
