WWE: An underrated dream feud for Daniel Bryan on SmackDown
Daniel Bryan is ready for one last run on WWE SmackDown, and since it’s going to be about putting over up-and-coming stars, here’s one such wrestler.
We’ve already seen Daniel Bryan get in the crosshairs of two of WWE SmackDown‘s top heels in Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
First, he and Rollins got into a brawl after “SmackDown’s Savior” interrupted Bryan, feeling disrespected that Bryan didn’t single him out for praise. Then, on the Oct. 30 episode of SmackDown, Jey Uso defeated Bryan in a qualifying match for Survivor Series then, at Roman Reigns’ direction, beat him all over the ring to “fall in line”.
Bryan would have a tremendous dream feud with either Reigns or Rollins, no doubt. He could also win the Intercontinental Championship off Sami Zayn after Zayn took issue with Bryan implying that he isn’t carrying the title the right way. Bryan believes the IC Champion should be a fighting champion, and it’s a huge reason why he wants to win the title. Bryan wants to restore prestige to the title, whereas Zayn is no fighting champion.
All of these three rivalries would be excellent, and my money is on Bryan to win the Intercontinental Title, perhaps even before Survivor Series to set up a title vs.title match with Raw’s United States Champion Bobby Lashley.
Daniel Bryan vs. Chad Gable for the IC Title needs to happen
But after Bryan wins the IC Title on SmackDown, it would be awesome to see him wrestle a great grappler who really should be a key part of the mid-card scene in WWE. Fans have been waiting for years to see him pushed.
That man is Chad Gable.
Finally, at long last, Gable recently dropped the “Shorty G” nickname, which was a terrible rib in the first place.
Last year, it seemed like Gable would get a push during the King of the Ring tournament, but King Corbin won and basically made a mockery of Gable. In 2020, Gable even briefly worked with Corbin, which surprised many fans and made no logical sense.
Gable has been in need of direction for quite some time. He is an Olympic wrestler who was once a part of an elite tag team in WWE, American Alpha.
Since Jason Jordan moved to Raw and Gable stayed on SmackDown, Gable’s had no sustained push. Even when he had a great tag team with Shelton Benjamin, the duo never won the tag titles.
It’s time for Gable to get a push as a singles competitor, and the best person to highlight Gable’s strengths in the ring and on the mic – Gable is an excellent promo. and actor – is the esteemed Daniel Bryan, who is arguably the greatest technical wrestler in WWE history.
Chad Gable views Daniel Bryan as his biggest dream match
In fact, Gable recently said on Corey Graves’ After The Bell podcast that Daniel Bryan is his dream opponent in wrestling.
And remember, this is supposed to be Bryan’s last run.
There is only so much time to have a full-on Gable vs. Bryan feud, and it would be an excellent rivalry for the Intercontinental Title. Not only would both men put over the title with their hard-hitting matches akin to what Bryan and Drew Gulak did technically, but Bryan would also be able to put over Gable more than anyone else.
Watch for this feud to develop in the future, because it could be an interesting storyline for the IC Title on the road to WrestleMania 37.
