AEW Full Gear 2020: 5 bold predictions including an NJPW shocker
2. Kenny Omega and Hangman Page have a time-limit draw
One of the most compelling rivalries heading into AEW Full Gear is this clash between former tag team partners and members of The Elite. The tensions have been rising between Omega and Page for what feels like an eternity, and things seemed more damaged than ever when they lost the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
Hangman Page seemed interested in keeping their union whole, while Kenny Omega was more than ready to move on to other things. As luck would have it, they found themselves in the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament on opposite sides of the brackets. After a few weeks of hard-fought matches, it all comes down to these two in the finals at AEW Full Gear.
Under the assumption that this match has a 60-Minute Time Limit, which feels likely, I’m predicting these two will go the full hour and neither man will emerge victorious. The time-limit draw will be truly shocking but will set up an unforgettable triple threat with the man who leaves AEW Full Gear as AEW World Champion.
3. MJF destroys Chris Jericho and takes control of The Inner Circle
For weeks, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been toying with the idea of joining The Inner Circle. He’s continued to play games with Chris Jericho, always coming close to asking to join without going all the way.
In the last few weeks, they have finally reached a boiling point and a compromise. As some members of The Inner Circle haven’t been convinced, Jericho included, MJF will have to defeat “Le Champion” at AEW Full Gear to join the group. I don’t think he’ll just defeat Jericho, but destroy him.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman will lay waste to the first-ever AEW World Champion to such an extent that he won’t be able to lead his group any longer, and in that moment Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager will turn and side with MJF. Santana and Ortiz won’t accept it, instead going off on their own, but it will leave MJF in control of a powerful group with Hager, Guevara, and Wardlow at his side.
