AEW announces that Brodie Lee passed away in a statement on December 26.

Heartbreaking news hit the wrestling industry on Saturday, December 26 when All Elite Wrestling announced that Brodie Lee, real name Jon Huber, died. The announcement came via the promotion’s official Twitter account.

“The All Elite Wrestling family is heartbroken,” posted in the statement. “In an industry filled with good people, Jon Huber was exceptionally respected and beloved in every way – a fierce and captivating talent, a thoughtful mentor, and simply a very kind soul that starkly contradicted her persona as Mr. Brodie Lee.”

Lee was last seen on television back in November when he was feuding with Cody Rhodes for the AEW TNT championship. He was removed from television in what was reported at the time as an ankle injury. His last match was on October 7 when he was defeated by Cody in a dog collar match.

“Jon’s love for his wife Amanda, and children Brodie and Nolan, was evident to all of us who were fortunate to spend time with him. We were privileged at AEW to call Jon Huber a brother, a friend, and one of our own.”

Lee’s wife, Amanda took to Instagram to post her own message about her husband, pointing out that his death was due to “non-COVID-19 related lung issue.”

Many voices across the wrestling industry expressed surprise at the news.

Before coming to AEW, Lee had an extensive run on the independent scene and within the WWE, known widely as Luke Harper, a member of the Wyatt Family. Huber was 41-years old.
