Fans have been calling for it for months. Now, it is time for AEW to pull the trigger on Dr. Britt Baker as AEW Women’s Champion.

It wasn’t that long ago that we all expected Dr. Britt Baker to get her hands on the AEW Women’s Championship. However, an untimely knee injury put her out of action and slowed her momentum. However, that was all that happened. Her momentum slowed, but it didn’t stop. She continued to be an entertaining part of AEW: Dynamite while she recovered.

Now that she has been cleared and is back in the ring, it is time for her to get back on track. However, while Britt has been busy, so has the AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida. For over 230 days, Hikaru Shida has shined as champion. She has shattered the prior two champions’ reigns and continues to have strong showing after strong showing.

She has defeated everyone that the company has put in her path. She has even beaten a rival promotion’s champion when she pinned then-NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa at All Out. While many were skeptical of Shida at first, she has made everyone bite their respective tongues and show her respect. But eventually, all great things must come to an end.

Baker has proved that she is more than ready to represent the company. Since turning heel in 2020, Britt has continued to constantly improve. She has had stellar matches and promos; her feud with Big Swole, for example, was entertaining and gave both women the opportunity for character growth, which culminated with an entertaining “Tooth and Nail” match at All Out.

While Baker took the loss on this night, she is ready for the biggest victory of her career. This wouldn’t be the first fight between the two, but this one would be the biggest one. In April of last year, Shida basically destroyed Britt’s face in their match. Britt blamed Shida and Swole for forcing her to have nose surgery.

Now, Baker needs to seek some revenge. While Abadon has been getting inside the champion’s head and many fans are calling for her to beat Shida, it is Baker that Shida needs to watch out for. If Abadon is next in line for Shida, I don’t believe that it is time for her to win the championship. After a great reign by Shida, the next champion needs to have prestige.

And who has more prestige than a doctor? There is nobody who makes more sense to take the title off Shida than Baker. She has been a highlight of the company since its inception. It is time to finally let her have her reign as AEW Women’s Champion. Now that she has Rebel by her side, let “The Doctor” be unstoppable.
