AEW Dynamite Predictions for January 20th, 2021
Coming off two very entertaining New Year’s Smash cards, AEW will look to carry forward its momentum on Dynamite this Wednesday night.
This week’s episode of AEW: Dynamite has six announced matches as well as a look-in at Miro and his new butler, Chuck Taylor. The card feels a little lackluster, as only The Inner Circle Tag Team Challenge has any sort of backstory leading up to it and the matchups seem somewhat lopsided. We can only assume this card is going to lead us into some new stories as we head towards Beach Break on Feb. 3. Here is a look at the match card and what to expect on this week’s Dynamite.
Matt Sydal & Top Flight vs Matt Hardy & Private Party
Top Flight and Private Party are two future AEW Tag Team Champions and putting these two high flying teams together in a match to kick off Dynamite should lead to a couple of breathtaking spots at the very least.
The story here is that of Hardy’s exploitation of Private Party. It is crucial for Hardy to ensure his clients get off on the right foot under his guidance. Hardy will implement a win at any cost mentality and help his team pull out a tainted win, much to the dismay of his partners. Winners: Matt Hardy and Private Party
Cody Rhodes vs Peter Avalon
Peter Avalon has put together a five-match win streak on AEW Dark in recent weeks. However, Dynamite is not Dark. And Cody Rhodes is on another level than anyone Avalon has faced recently. This match will most likely be about pushing forward the next Cody storyline, (whether it has to do with Jade Cargill or something else) than anything that has to do with Avalon. Winner: Cody Rhodes
Jon Moxley vs TBA
Jon Moxley is back in action for the first time since losing his AEW Championship to Kenny Omega. Mox will most likely be fed an AEW Dark regular and then cut another top-notch promo and/or fight off an attack from Omega and The Good Brothers. Winner: Jon Moxley
-1 Birthday Celebration Match
Adam Page will join up with Colt Cabana, Alex Reynolds, and John Silver of the Dark Order to take on The Hybrid 2 and Chaos Project. After the tragic passing of Brodie Lee, Dark Order has turned from a heel faction to a comedic face faction. This makes the likelihood of Page joining the Dark Order much more of a possibility. I might even go so far as to call it probable.
“Hangman” and Dark Order will take care of TH2 and Chaos Project and then Page will announce that he will indeed, join the Dark Order. This will help solidify the group with a top-tier star in its ranks and gives Page something to do until he is ready to get back in the AEW Title picture.
I really hope -1 is at ringside for this one. The fact that AEW continues to involve Brodie, Jr. is heartwarming. It says everything about the company and the people involved in it. Winners: The Dark Order w/ Hangman Adam Page
The Inner Circle Tag Team Challenge
MJF continues poisoning the Inner Circle from the inside out. After Jake Hager and Wardlow went to blows a couple of weeks ago, six of the seven Inner Circle members will compete to determine who is the official tag team of the Inner Circle going forward. Chris Jericho & MJF will team up to take on Santana & Ortiz and Jake Hager & Sammy Guevara in what most likely will be the main event of Dynamite.
The end game of The Inner Circle remains to be seen. Will MJF orchestrate a mutiny leading to the group turning their back on Jericho? Will Sammy Guevara catch MJF doing MJF things and leave the group? Will the original members of The Inner Circle recognize the poison that is MJF and boot him out? Or maybe Jericho & MJF win this match, leading to Santana & Ortiz leaving the group…….
Winners: Jericho & MJF
