AEW: Kenny Omega Vs. Nick Aldis must happen in 2021
If you grew up in the Attitude Era of professional wrestling as I did, then you got to see some of the most entertaining wrestling storylines in professional wrestling history. If you were a fan of this era, then you dreamed of WCW and WWE working together to create dream matches for the fans. With AEW willing to work with other wrestling promotions, we are given a chance to see something that would have never happened in the ’90s
In case you have been living under a rock, AEW has opened up forbidden doors when it comes to working with other wrestling companies. We have seen current NWA Women’s World Champion Serena Debb appear on AEW, and recently we’ve witnessed Impact wrestling and AEW work together to create some great wrestling moments.
There are many dream matches that we could be seeing in 2021, but the dream match that needs to happen is Kenny Omega Vs. Nick Aldis with the AEW and NWA titles on the line.
Aldis is currently the NWA World Heavy Weight Champion. The NWA Heavyweight championship, the oldest heavyweight champion in professional wrestling, is still alive and doing very well. Aldis is in his second Reign as NWA champion and has been champion since October 21, 2018, when he beat Cody for the title.
When Omega defeated Jon Moxley at the AEW Dynamite Winter is Coming television special, who thought it would lead to the most exciting storyline in professional wrestling in a long time. The following Tuesday, he appeared on Impact wrestling television. He made it clear that he was interested in adding more titles to his collection. Let’s also remember that Kenny is already a double champion right now with the AAA Mega championship on his shoulders.
I believe that Omega Vs. Aldis is the match that needs to happen, and this is how we get there.
On January 16, 2021, the world witnessed Omega pin Rich Swan during the main event of Impact Wrestling Hard to Kill. At the next Impact PPV, Swann should defend his world title against Omega, with Omega getting the clean finish. On the following Tuesday, Omega should appear with both world titles and say that another title has been added to his collection.
The next night on AEW Dynamite, Omega should open the show in the ring and brag about himself and say how he’s already had three world titles around his waist and how he plans to add some more tags. That’s when Nick Aldis comes out with the NWA championship and says that Kenny isn’t a real collector because he hasn’t come for the most critical championship in wrestling the NWA title. This would lead to months of back and forth, and Nick Aldis is appearing on AEW and beating wrestlers that are close to Omega.
Omega vs Aldis is a leading event title match that could bring all eyes to both AEW And NWA. If they want to, I would even have Swann in the mix and make him obsessed with winning back his Impact wrestling championship to the point that it starts making Aldis mad because he wants Omega for himself.
Omega as the collector of championships, can create some great moments for AEW’s second year as a professional wrestling company. I know that Omega traveling worldwide to face different company’s world champions could bring a lot of eyes to AEW, but the one march that has the potential to be the match that everyone wants to see is Omega vs Aldis for the NWA championship would be the match that people would like to pay to see.
