AEW: Ranking every 2020 Pay-Per-View from worst to best

It’s fair to say, AEW has been firmly established as a viable alternative to WWE.

They’ve consistently produced excellent television and internet-breaking shows. WWE may still be at the top of the mountain, but they’re no longer the be-all and end-all when it comes to professional wrestling.

As for the Wednesday Night Wars, AEW has fairly and squarely beaten NXT in ratings save for 2 or 3 weeks.

Now, between AEW and NXT,  the question of which show is actually better is a debate you can have for ages. Countless debates, Twitter feuds, and roast battles in the comments section between fans have been sparked because of this, and expectedly so. After all, this is a war.

Personally, I think both shows have their strengths and weaknesses but what’s undeniable is the fact that AEW has adapted to the pandemic a lot better than NXT.

Don’t get me wrong, both AEW and NXT produced great shows this year, but I think it’s fair to say that the 2020 TakeOvers didn’t feel like the NXT TakeOvers of old. NXT was plagued with questionable and controversial booking, a lot of their top stars suffered injuries at the worst possible time, and they kept getting downhill in the ratings war.

While AEW, on the other hand, has been firing on all cylinders. All of their titles feel important and they’ve created a great balance between their older and younger stars. So many people have been elevated on AEW and with their recent partnership with Impact, they’re attracting more and more eyeballs. Kenny Omega literally feels like “The World Champion” in professional wrestling.

And a big part of AEW’s success is their Pay-Per-Views. I mean, the weekly specials are great as well but an AEW PPV always feels like a spectacle, and even with no fans in the arena, all of AEW’s 2020 PPVs delivered and left fans satisfied and smiling.

Well, except for maybe one show which we’ll talk about.
