In 2020 AEW made it clear to the world that they’re the alternative to WWE that we have wanted for years. AEW has done a great job producing television and pay-per-view shows for the world of professional wrestling. WWE is here to stay and probably will always be at the top of the professional wrestling world, but they’re no longer the only wrestling company with a big television deal, and that can pay wrestlers good money to do what they love to do.

When it comes to  AEW, 2021 needs to be the year that Tony Khan creates an AEW flagship event that can rival WrestleMania. When I was a kid growing up in the ’90s, two wrestling shows that I always looked forward to watching with my grandfather, and those two events were WrestleMania and  Starrcade.

Over the years, other wrestling companies have created some amazing moments at their flagship shows, such as Impact wrestling having Bound for Glory, Ring of Honor having their  Final Battle event, and  NJPW having Wrestle Kingdom which at the moment has created some better moments than WrestleMania has over the last couple of years.

When AEW was created in 2019, wrestling fans were left with so many questions on what this company could become. In the first year, AEW delivered amazing pay-per-view events such as Double or Nothing, All Out, Full Gear, and Revolution. But none of these Pay-Per-Views felt like that big wrestling event you wake up in the morning and say it’s WrestleMania day.

AEW is currently involved in a working relationship deal with Impact Wrestling, which is creating some great storylines for 2021. If I were on AEW creative team, I would be pushing to develop a flagship wrestling show that could rival WrestleMania as the biggest wrestling event of the year.

I have created a list of reasons why AEW must establish its flagship event in 2021.

Wrestling Super Bowl

All sports should have one event equivalent to the Superbowl, where all of the athlete’s hard work finally pays off on the biggest stage of them all. Every time WrestleMania season rolls around; there’s a level of excitement that wrestling fans have. WWE has done a fantastic job of bringing fans into their world during the weekend of WrestleMania. AEW can do the same with their flagship event and even make it better by having celebrities and athletes from all around the world at the event.

Career Changing Amazing Performances

WrestleMania is built as the biggest show of the year, and every WWE superstar knows that. When a wrestler walks out on that stage, they are prepared to go out there and deliver a show-stealing performance. The quality of in-ring action steps up when it comes to WrestleMania because wrestlers want to make sure they deliver their best when it comes to the AEW roster that has so many talented women and men that can create some amazing moments that can go down in wrestling history. It is time for AEW to start saving big title changes for pay Per Views and by having a flagship show that would help.

Cities Wanting To Hose

When it comes to the Olympics, Superbowl, and yes, even Wrestlemania, numerous different cities look to host these sports events. Wrestlemania host cities that are usually booked years in advance. When it comes to sporting events cities, look forward to them because they’re able to reap a large number of benefits from hosting such huge events like a super bowl and Wrestlemania.

The Attendance

Every year thousands of wrestling fans come together to travel for Wrestlemania. Events like Superbowl and WrestleMania has created some great moments for families all over the world. AEW  has the chance to make an event where families can come and see great wrestling for years to come.

The Main Event

The main event is the match that fans came to see; it is where wrestling careers can either begin or end. When it comes to WWE, they use the Royal Rumble match to determine who will be in the main event of Wrestlemania. I believe that AEW could do the same or create a tournament where every wrestler in their respected divisions is involved in determining who will face the company’s champion.  AEW should use their flagship show to make their next big stars and as a way to end current storylines and begin new ones.

AEW needs to start planning now on the one event that they can create that rivals Wrestlemania and creates a massive buzz for their company.  When WCW closed, fans were left with only one Super wrestling show. In 2021 wrestling fans have the chance to see an American wrestling show that could rival  Wrestlemania. These are my reasons why AEW needs to create its flagship wrestling event.
