On Feb. 11, NXT executive producer Triple H conducted his usual pre-TakeOver media call and discussed a wide range of topics surrounding the upcoming NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day event.

When the questions shifted over to 2021 men’s Royal Rumble winner Edge’s recent appearance on the black and gold brand’s weekly TV show, “The Game” took some time to praise his one-time on-screen rival for his desire to give back to the business.

Triple H also brought up how Edge wanted to work with a number of the wrestlers who work down there.

Edge apparently has a wish list of NXT talent that he wanted to face.

According to Triple H, Edge came to him with a list of potential NXT opponents (h/t to Fightful’s Jeremy Lambert and Robert DeFelice for the transcription):

"“Edge’s return has been done really well. He is in a place in his mind where he wants to build young (talent) and get them rolling in different directions….He’s been talking to me since prior to coming back the first time at Royal Rumble 2020 about coming to NXT and not only stepping in the ring and talking but stepping in the ring and performing. Prior to him coming to the Rumble, he gave me ‘here’s my list. I want to work with this person.'”"

Edge appeared on the Feb. 3 episode of NXT as part of a storyline where he is mulling over which world championship he wants to challenge for at WrestleMania 37 — a right he earned thanks to his Rumble victory.

In his debut appearance, he confronted NXT Champion Finn Balor and Pete Dunne, who will wrestle each other for Balor’s title at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day. Edge talked about how the NXT brand resparked his passion for pro wrestling, how the brand represented the second “W” in WWE instead of the “E” (an inherently silly statement since wrestling IS entertainment), and how he would watch the Balor/Dunne match before hinting at challenging for the NXT Title.

Triple H also talked about how Edge’s passion shined through in his promo while leaving the door open for future appearances in NXT for “The Rated R Superstar”:

"“That youth is exciting. Their enthusiasm, passion, drive, and desire. When he came to NXT, just knowing him, I could see the smile on his face all day as he talked with everyone. It’s awesome to see. I don’t think any of it is beyond the realm of possibility. We saw it last year with Charlotte and you see it this year with him playing things across the board. Depending on where WrestleMania goes, beyond that, there is availability for him to come to NXT and use his star power to help them and elevate and for him to have that final few chapters of his career the way he wants to have them. It’s something he’s willing to do and pushing hard to do.”"
